MICHELE MORGAN (1920-2016) became the most popular actress in France after making her film debut at the age of 15. Morgan, who won the Cannes Film Festival Best Actress Award in 1946, made several films in Hollywood, including Joan of Paris (1942), Two Tickets to London (1943), Higher and Higher (1944), Passage to Marseilles (1944), and The Chase (1946), during the WWII era. In 1944, she became the first occupant of the Los Angeles home which would be the site of the Manson Family murders in 1969. The delicate, sophisticate actress, who was known for her large, expressive eyes, titled her 1977 autobiography With Those Eyes. Morgan remained active on French television through the 1990s. American actor and singer JOHNNY JOHNSTON (1915-1996), who was also billed as Johnnie Johnson, had started his career with Art Kassels band and later became a popular guitar-playing radio crooner. After signing to Capitol Records in 1942 (one of the first four artists to sign with the label), Johnston recorded the standard, "That Old Black Magic" and the million-selling song, "Laura". Married to Kathryn Grayson from 1947-1951, Johnston appeared in a number of feature films, including Star Spangled Rhythm and Sweater Girl (both 1942), Till the Clouds Roll By (1946), Lady Godiva Rides Again (1951), Unchained (1955) and Rock Around the Clock (1956).
